Who we are –
meet the cdi pack

We are a small team, but very big in ambition and drive! We bring over 40 years’ experience in business, coaching, project management, psychology and public speaking from previous careers to conservation dogs ireland.

Being small has two deliberate and notable advantages to you, our client.

  • We can be competitively priced because of few overhead costs.
  • Everyone on the team knows everything and can therefore assist with your inquiries right away.

You’ll likely end up having some dealings with the boss, Helga, when she’s not mopping muddy paw prints or making us coffee. At cdi, work or communication do not shut down when someone is on holidays. That said, we’re not a 24/7 helpline, we do take weekends off and sometimes need to put the bins out.

Perhaps most importantly, we are a well traveled, multi-national team with a great love of the world – and Ireland especially. We feel called to helping safeguard its unique natural biodiversity. Much like many forests grew from just one acorn, we believe a few dedicated individuals can achieve a whole lot.

Our dogs are our number one heroes! They are a mixed bag of purebred Labradors and rescued Malinois, Spaniels and Beagles. They live and breathe conservation work, for no other reward than hanging out with their handler and playing ball after.

Animal welfare

We are nothing without our dogs. Animal welfare is central to our work, and without fail, we always treat our dogs accordingly. We are trained in Dog First Aid and keep a keen eye on their happiness, health and performance.  They often eat better than we do.  Employee satisfaction is key to us! Our dogs work hard, and play harder. They get sick leave, holidays, bon(e)uses and the occasional Monday off (We still remember it vaguely. We were all young once.)

Much like with people, if the work no longer suits one of our dogs, we look into retraining, job rotation or retirement.

Once a cdi dog, always a cdi dog

Our dogs are loyal to us, and we will remain loyal to them for life. They will typically retire after eight years of service with a rock solid retirement package. When a little grey around the whiskers, they become pampered cdi pets, in a forever home filled with leisurely walks, naps and tasty snacks. Arrangements can also be made for rehoming with customers who share our values.

Rescues to the rescue!

Rescued is our favorite breed. Some of our best conservation dogs didn’t have a good start in life, or a happy future ahead of them.  Many would likely be euthanized before even having lived.  They were dropped into shelters and deemed ‘unadoptable’ because of their unrelenting play-drive and high energy. These second hand pets can make exceptional, first class conservation dogs when their crazy exuberance is understood and channeled through training. Win-win. Looking into their hopeful faces behind bars breaks our heart every time, but we know it’s much harder for them looking out. The very best day of the month is when we can save a dog like that. We all get to have cake!

Nothing in nature lives for itself. Rivers don’t drink their own water. Trees don’t eat their own fruit. Sun doesn’t give heat for itself. Flowers don’t spread fragrance for themselves. Living for others, is the rule of nature.
